MAY 2024 MAI

The end of May event was a run through the beautiful Perigord countryside with stops.

As our members come from far and wide we first met up in Riberac for a coffee before a run to our first stop for lunch at Le Pressoir in Saint Meard de Gurcon. The restaurant was chosen for its excellent reviews and it did not disappoint. This contributed to us being slightly late for our next stop, the winery at Chateau Ressaudie.

The winery is run by Frank and Marie Magiera and although only producing wines for 4 years there was an ample selection of quality wines for the tasting.

There are winetastings and then there is Frank Magiera. His passion for their vineyard and the development and improvement of their wines shone through in what would be a two hour presentation. Starting in the vineyard with the work required to insure the production of the required quality of grape and ending with the tasting of a good number of bottles of both their red and white wines from their Bergerac and Montravel ranges.

A captivating and passionate presentation followed by the opportunity to put to use what we had learned during the tasting and to load our car boots with “a few bottles”.

A number of our members who lived nearby then went their own way and some of us who had a longer trip home stayed the night nearby in a magnificent boutique hotel, the Maison M in Sainte Foy La Grande. Our thanks to Tegan Cornish for making us so welcome.

Next event is a car show in the beautiful town of Bramtome. See our website for details.
