JECSOF\/A Report for July<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best laid plans as they say. Our planned event for July had to be cancelled for various reasons but two further events took place enabling many of our group to meet up.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ch\u00e2teau de Brives-sur-Charente<\/strong>
Our region had visited this ch\u00e2teau in previous years but 2023 was special being the 200th anniversary of the ch\u00e2teau and this celebration was combined with the village fete. The event was planned to be over two days but our group only attended on the Friday which turned out to be fortunate as the heavens opened on the Saturday. Our cars, not all Jaguars I am afraid, were on show in front of the ch\u00e2teau along with some vehicles from a local club. The fete itself had many artisanal stalls attracting the shoppers amongst us and also live music, a good selection of food outlets and of course a bar. A great get together in excellent weather into the late hours when we could retire to the superb rooms offered by the ch\u00e2teau. Our thanks to Sarah and George for their hospitality.

Into early August and a group of us travelled to Saintes on the Charente river for a day long cruise. The cruise was on an solar powered electric boat capable of accommodating up to 150 people and Graham, the trip organiser, managed to keep our group together on the open top deck where we could watch the Charente, and the world go by. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch at the Moulin de la Baine restaurant before the return trip down the river. A very relaxing day out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rapport JECSOF\/A pour le mois de juillet<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les plans les mieux con\u00e7us, comme on dit. Notre \u00e9v\u00e9nement pr\u00e9vu pour le mois de juillet a d\u00fb \u00eatre annul\u00e9 pour diverses raisons, mais deux autres \u00e9v\u00e9nements ont eu lieu, permettant \u00e0 de nombreux membres de notre groupe de se rencontrer.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n


Ch\u00e2teau de Brives-sur-Charente<\/strong>
Notre r\u00e9gion avait d\u00e9j\u00e0 visit\u00e9 ce ch\u00e2teau les ann\u00e9es pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes, mais l’ann\u00e9e 2023 \u00e9tait sp\u00e9ciale puisqu’elle marquait le 200e anniversaire du ch\u00e2teau et que cette c\u00e9l\u00e9bration \u00e9tait combin\u00e9e avec la f\u00eate du village. L’\u00e9v\u00e9nement \u00e9tait pr\u00e9vu sur deux jours, mais notre groupe n’a assist\u00e9 qu’au vendredi, ce qui s’est
av\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00eatre une chance, car le ciel s’est ouvert le samedi. Nos voitures, pas toutes des Jaguars j’en ai peur, \u00e9taient expos\u00e9es devant le ch\u00e2teau avec quelques v\u00e9hicules d’un club local. La f\u00eate elle-m\u00eame comportait de nombreux stands artisanaux attirant les acheteurs parmi nous, mais aussi de la musique live, une bonne s\u00e9lection de points de vente de nourriture et bien s\u00fbr un bar.
Une belle rencontre par un temps magnifique jusqu’\u00e0 tard dans la nuit, lorsque nous avons pu nous retirer dans les superbes chambres offertes par le ch\u00e2teau.

D\u00e9but ao\u00fbt, un groupe d’entre nous s’est rendu \u00e0 Saintes, sur la Charente, pour une croisi\u00e8re d’une journ\u00e9e. La croisi\u00e8re s’est d\u00e9roul\u00e9e sur un bateau \u00e9lectrique fonctionnant \u00e0 l’\u00e9nergie solaire et pouvant accueillir jusqu’\u00e0 150 personnes. Graham, l’organisateur du voyage, a r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 garder notre groupe ensemble sur le pont ouvert o\u00f9 nous pouvions regarder la Charente et le monde passer. Nous avons d\u00e9jeun\u00e9 tranquillement au restaurant du Moulin de la Baine avant de redescendre le fleuve.
