The weekend of the 17th<\/sup> \/ 18th<\/sup> September saw the yearly classic racing in Angouleme. The town is located on a plateau and is the site of the original fortified town. The steep streets are the site of the yearly Circuit des Remparts which attracts classic racers from far and wide including many old Bugattis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday saw 12 of our members enter the Rallye des Clubs for a day long rally taking in the countryside around Angouleme and of course a stop for a pleasant lunch along the way. Several hundred classic and \u201cprestige\u201d vehicles from car clubs all over France and further afield took part. We all completed the rally with only a few minor mishaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in Angouleme, the Saturday was reserved for the \u201cheats\u201d prior to the Sunday racing but as this year was the 100th<\/sup> anniversary of Jaguar, the organisers allocated the Place Francis Louvel in the centre of Angouleme to a show of a range of historic Jaguars. Many thanks to the club members who displayed their cars here over the weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Classic cars of all marques were also displayed throughout the town including our own JECSOF\/A members. The Sunday racing was superb as usual a highlight being a Bugatti only race with 18 cars taking part. The pits are also open to the public so you can get up close to these magnificent old machines. The Sunday would have not been complete without lunch so thirty of us spent lunchtime in \u201cLe Lion Rouge\u201d restaurant that overlooks the square with the display of Jaguars. Great food, wine and company. We’ll be back!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le week-end du 17 et 18 septembre, les courses classiques annuelles ont eu lieu \u00e0 Angoul\u00eame. La ville est situ\u00e9e sur un plateau et est le site de la ville fortifi\u00e9e originale. Les rues escarp\u00e9es sont le site du Circuit des Remparts annuel qui attire les coureurs classiques de loin, y compris de nombreuses vieilles Bugatti.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Samedi, 12 de nos membres ont particip\u00e9 au Rallye des Clubs pour une journ\u00e9e de rallye dans la campagne d’Angoul\u00eame, avec bien s\u00fbr un arr\u00eat pour un d\u00e9jeuner agr\u00e9able en cours de route. Plusieurs centaines de v\u00e9hicules classiques et de prestige provenant de clubs automobiles de toute la France et d’ailleurs y ont particip\u00e9. Nous avons tous termin\u00e9 le rallye avec seulement quelques incidents mineurs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

De retour \u00e0 Angoul\u00eame, le samedi \u00e9tait r\u00e9serv\u00e9 aux “manches” avant les courses du dimanche, mais comme cette ann\u00e9e \u00e9tait le 100\u00e8me anniversaire de Jaguar, les organisateurs ont allou\u00e9 la Place Francis Louvel dans le centre d’Angoul\u00eame \u00e0 une exposition d’une gamme de Jaguars historiques. Un grand merci aux membres du club qui ont expos\u00e9 leurs voitures ici pendant le week-end.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Des voitures classiques de toutes marques ont \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 expos\u00e9es dans toute la ville, y compris nos propres membres de la JECSOF\/A. Les courses du dimanche ont \u00e9t\u00e9 superbes, comme d’habitude, avec en point d’orgue une course r\u00e9serv\u00e9e aux Bugatti, \u00e0 laquelle 18 voitures ont particip\u00e9. Les stands sont \u00e9galement ouverts au public, ce qui permet de s’approcher de ces magnifiques machines anciennes. Le dimanche n’aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9 complet sans un d\u00e9jeuner et trente d’entre nous ont pass\u00e9 l’heure du d\u00e9jeuner au restaurant “Le Lion Rouge” qui surplombe la place o\u00f9 sont expos\u00e9es les Jaguars.
