Proposed ‘Outings for 2021

Gaillac Wine Experience

This is proposed as a 2/3 day, 2 night wine experience in the Gaillac wine region, taking in some classic drives to beautiful ‘beau villages’.

We would meet at an hotel, possibly in Belcastel, on the evening of the first day and enjoy dinner together. In the morning we would drive out to the Gaillac Museum of wine growing history, where a guided tour would be enjoyed, given by its owner..

In the afternoon, we would do a Gaillac Vineyard tour, with tasting, and afterward, dinner together.

The next morning we would take a drive out to the beautiful villages of Cordes sur Ciel and Najac, where we would have lunch.

Dispersal after lunch.

Chalais Race or Relax

This is proposed as a 2 day, 1 night visit to both the motor racing circuit at La Genetouze ( Circuit de Haute Saintonge ), and a visit for well-being and spa treatments at the nearby Le Manoir Gabard.

We would meet for lunch at a local restaurant, and afterward, for those who have treatments booked ( a list with costs will be pre-circulated for you to book ) will then go on to the well being centre at La Manoir Gabard, 5 minutes from Chalais.

For those who have opted to take their cars to the track, we would then head off to the circuit for an afternoon doing laps on the track.

We would then meet up for dinner in the evening at a local hostelry, and in the morning, we have the option of a tour around the beautiful Chateau de Chalais, or a visit to a local market. This would be followed by lunch and depart afterwards.

Vintage and Classic Car Racing

Whilst we have somewhat reduced our involvement at the Circuit des Remparts in Angouleme ( although many of us may continue to attend ) we have been looking to find something that reflects a more informal or less ‘corporate’ motor racing event that could suit our tastes better.

To that end, we are investigating the options of:-

GP Historique de Pau ( www.grandprixdepau.com )

GP Historique de Bressuire (see Facebook page or press)

GP Retro Puy Notre Dame ( see www.grandprixretro-puynotredame.com )

It is our intention to organise a trip to one of these events in 2021.

We hope this gives you a flavour of some of our plans for 2021, subject, of course, to the restrictions being lifted in time to turn these plans into reality.

Lastly, we are always delighted when members come forward to help plan these events, as the committee cannot do them all, so all volunteers are very welcome!
